What is PicoWay?

PicoWay is an FDA-cleared picosecond laser that effectively reduces acne scars, wrinkles, and age spots. PicoWay first became known for its pigment removal capabilities, but it is now growing in use for acne scars and wrinkles.

This laser system uses different handpieces and laser wavelengths for treatment of these conditions. The Zoom handpieces treat dark spots. And the Resolve handpieces treat acne scars and wrinkles.

PicoWay has the shortest pulse durations of any available picosecond laser for aesthetic use. PicoWay offers effective treatments with low to no downtime following treatment.

How it works

All PicoWay treatments use a picosecond laser with high power and the shortest laser pulses available. The ultra-short pulses with PicoWay are important because they lead to a “photoacoustic” effect that avoids heating the skin rather than a photothermal (or heat) approach. This results in significantly less downtime and scarring.

After your treatment, you can resume normal activities and even apply makeup over an acne scar or wrinkle treated skin within a day of treatment.

The PicoWay laser reaches under the skin for its impact, leaving the outer layer of the skin intact. The ultra-short pulses vaporize their targets before the skin has the chance to overheat. Targets can be melanin in the skin that causes dark spots, or areas in the dermis (a layer under the outer skin) where tiny spaces can be created to allow room for new collagen and elastin growth in the treatment of acne scars and wrinkles.

Is PicoWay Right for Me?

If you have wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, melasma, blemishes or other skin irregularities that are taking away from the aesthetics of your skin, a PicoWay treatment may be right for you. This is one of the few lasers safe for all skin types, giving all patients a revitalized complexion without the risk that comes with other devices.

What can I Expect During Treatments?

The treatments use a handpiece that is gently passed over the skin in a series of brief 15-20-minute sessions. Common side effects can include redness, swelling, and tingling that may last for a few hours to a few days after treatment, but otherwise, there is zero downtime between treatments.

When will I Notice my Results?

Depending on the condition being treated, initial improvement may be seen after the first treatment.* Typically though, multiple treatments are needed to achieve optimal results.*
