What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a long-lasting yet temporary solution to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck.* The procedure is great for those who have not seen results after using countless topical skin care treatments and creams. BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved facial rejuvenation procedure that requires just a fine needle and five minutes of your time.
The tiny needle will inject a small amount of BOTOX® into the targeted facial or neck muscles so that they can no longer contract and create wrinkles and creases. Unlike other facial rejuvenation procedures such as face lifts, BOTOX® Cosmetic does not require surgery, anesthetic, or downtime. As a result, this facial rejuvenation procedure is the world’s most popular!
What to Expect
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment at Laser Aesthetic is one of a kind. Our friendly, trained and certified staff will make you feel comfortable and at home the minute you walk through the door for your procedure. We will always take the time to meet with you and help answer any questions or concerns you have. Next we will ask you to address and point out the fine lines and wrinkles you want treated. After we provide you with a cost estimate for the procedure, you’re welcome to sit back and relax for the next few minutes as we tackle those problem areas. The only symptoms you may experience is a slight discomfort upon injection and minor localized bruising. Within 48 hours, you should begin to see noticeable results that will last for several months.*
What Should I Do Pre and Post-Treatment?
Patients should avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to injections and avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, vitamin E, fish oil, and NSAIDS for two weeks prior to avoid bruising and swelling. After injections, patients should not wear hats, lie down, or exercise for 6 hours. Do not get any facial treatments including laser, microdermabrasion, or massage for 10 days. Patients should animate the face immediately following treatment and for about an hour after being injected.
How Long is the Procedure?
The procedure itself takes just 5 minutes. Typically a half hour is set aside for each patient to allow time for an initial consultation to answer questions or concerns as well as post-care instructions after the procedure. The effects of BOTOX® are not immediate, but most patients will notice a difference in their wrinkles and fine lines in 48 hours, with the full effects showing in a couple of weeks after treatment.* BOTOX® lasts several months but does vary per person.* In order to maintain the appearance BOTOX® Cosmetic provides, repeated injections are necessary.
What Does BOTOX® Treat?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is most commonly used for forehead, glabella (between the brows) and crow’s feet. It can also be used to “pop” the upper lip, soften platysmal bands (located on your neck) and the masseter muscle which will help with individuals who clench or grind their teeth and experience jaw pain. BOTOX® isn’t just for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles either. In fact, it can also be used in the palms of the hands and on underarms to reduce excessive sweating in both men and women.*
Is BOTOX® Right For Me?
Anyone aged 18 to 65 is the ideal candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic when it comes to reducing the appearance of wrinkles. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, allergic to any ingredients in BOTOX®, have had facial surgery or have difficulty swallowing, then BOTOX® may not be right for you. Keep in mind that results may vary and are dependent on age, skin condition, facial structure, diet and past experience with BOTOX®. It’s important to talk with a primary care physician before contacting our spa for facial rejuvenation services.
